VPL Photo Treatments

The Ultra VPL (Varied Pulse Light)
The Energist Ultra VPL™ is the most advanced hair removal and skin rejuvenation system available. The Ultra VPL™ is a safe and effective way for men and women to get long term results for a wide range of treatments. A newer technology to laser, Ultra VPL™ takes less time to produce results, is comfortable and non-invasive. In minimal sessions with the least discomfort, Ultra VPL™ is a better alternative to many other skin surface treatments because of its proven technology with high grade results. Ultra VPL™ is able to treat the following areas of concern:

Acne Scarring
The Ultra VPL™ improves both active acne and acne scarring by destroying the bacteria that causes the infection. Acne is healed significantly following a course of treatments and skin texture and tone is improved as further collagen is produced.

Broken Capillaries
Broken capillaries around the facial area can also be treated with Ultra VPL™. By only targeting specific areas of the skin and at a certain depth we are able to provide treatment of the tissue where disruption is nowhere near as great as laser procedures or chemical peels.

Sun, liver and age spots (Pigmentation)
These are conditions which usually appear in later years. These are all caused by an excess amount of melanin, the pigment which determines our hair and skin colour. Because Ultra VPL™ is a light based technology, we are able to effectively treat this condition with little or no side-effects.

Rejuvenation
Ultra VPL™ helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by sending light through the skin which stimulates the production of collagen, a useful ingredient in helping the skin restore its youthful look. The procedure can be done in 3-5 treatments over 2 week intervals and post maintenance treatments can be done to prolong the effects.

What is IPL/Photo rejuvenation/PhotoFacial?

IPL or Intense Pulsed Light is a breakthrough skin treatment that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions and imperfections, such as the signs of aging (sunspots or age spots), unwanted hair, unsightly small vains, Rosacea, and spider veins. IPL offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing exceptional results.

Pulses of intense light are directed onto the skin and absorbed by the melanin in pigmented lesions, such as age, sun and liver spots. When working on patients with Rosacea and broken capillaries the pulsed light weakens the walls of the vessel, heating the hemoglobin, causing it to collapse and disappear.  Pulsed light systems are similar to lasers, but use a larger, more diffused beam for safe, fast and comfortable treatments.

How is the Photorejuvenation Procedure Performed?

Cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you may be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band. An anesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required.  Treatment is generally administered in a series of procedures that provides excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction.  Each treatment takes about thirty minutes.

What Body Areas Can I Have Treated?

Any area except directly around the eyes.  The face, neck, chest arms, hands, legs, etc. can all be treated.

Why Are Mulitple Treatments Necessary?

Depending on the number of conditions you are treating and the severity of the individual problem, a series of five or six treatment sessions may be recommended. Dividing the treatments, provides gradual improvement and lowers risk.

How do other treatments compare to Photorejuvenation / Photofacial treatments?

While there are lasers that treat red spots, other lasers that treat browns, and others yet that are used for resurfacing facial skin, no technology provides the long-term improvement of complexion and texture of the IPL Photorejuvenation program-all without the slightest interruption in your busy lifestyle.

What Conditions can Photo Rejuvenation/Photofacial treat?

Photo rejuvenation can help patients who suffer from photo-aging of the skin, pigmentation from sun exposure (Age Spots), irregularities of skin texture, improves some mild acne scars, reduces large pores and dark circles around the eyes and helps reduce fine lines, especially around the eyes and mouth. It can also treat broken capillaries and Rosacea.

What should I expect after treatment?

Pigmented lesions will darken slightly after treatment, and then fade away after about 10-14 days.

Vessels generally undergo immediate graying or blanching and the surrounding area may redden. The vessels then fade after about 10-14 days.

Most people will experience some mild temporary redness and swelling, similar to a sunburn, in the treated area shortly after treatment. It should lessen in a day or so. You can go about your daily activities.
